Project - Minecraft Education Progress 2

Great progress so far!  Everyone is at a different point in the Minecraft Education project - keep up the great work, and remember your updates are important so I can see the progress that you are making.  Send me a Chat in Teams or an email if you have questions or concerns.

A couple of things to also keep in mind:
- You need to provide an update once a week on your blog
- Your update(s) should include a brief summary, telling me how it’s going so far, good/bad/challenges, with at least 3-5 screen shots
- Remember, for a linear course like this, the expected time to spend per week is 1-1.5 hours
- The time allocated for this project is approximately 8-10 hours - so the project runs over multiple weeks

I know some of you have been busy working on Minecraft Education this week - great work!  Some of you have not yet told me which structure you are starting with - please send me an email at cprobert@sd35.bc.ca with how you are doing so far as you get down to work!

By the end of this week, per the previous post, you should:

  • Also, once a week, you must post on your blog an update on your progress – a brief summary, telling me how it’s going so far, good/bad/challenges, with at least 3-5 screen shots.
Do your best - I am giving you marks and credit for the effort you put in as well as what you build.  Aim to post your update tomorrow (Thursday) or Friday, depending on your progress.  Good luck and have fun building!

Project - Minecraft Education

This project will run over the next number of weeks.  You may work on your own or with a partner.  Your task is to build the following structure(s) in Minecraft Education.  As you build, you need to take screen shots to show your progress.  When finished, you will then put together PowerPoint presentations of your screen shots for each of the worlds that you build (use a separate world if you make more than one).

You will need a computer or an iPad to download and run Minecraft Education.  To download Minecraft Education, go here:
https://education.minecraft.net/get-started/download/

(Use your One Drive Langley schools account to sign in)
*If you are unable to download Minecraft Education or do not have technology, please contact me.

Take a screenshot every five minutes or so to capture your progress in Minecraft Education:
Screenshot shortcut: Window Key – ALT – Printscreen

Expectations:
- This project is to take approximately 8-10 hours (we may adjust this as we go if necessary).  Keep in mind, you are only expected to complete a maximum of 1-1.5 hours of work on this class, per week.
- Important: You must make 2 slideshows for each one you build:

  • Slide show 1: outside construction – min 20 max 40 screenshots
  • Slide show 2: inside construction - min 20 max 40 screenshots
  • Also, once a week, you must post on your blog an update on your progress – a brief summary, telling me how it’s going so far, good/bad/challenges, with at least 3-5 screen shots.

- If you are working with someone else, each person is responsible for their own  screenshots, and their own PowerPoint presentations, with their own captions (labelled titles).
- Make sure your PowerPoints are properly edited and labeled (captions) and formatted.   It should look good! – use the same size and colour of text.
- When the project is finished you will post your PowerPoints to your blog, or share them with me.

If you are working on your own: choose One to build (finish early – build another!):
With a partner: choose Two to build (finish early – build the 3rd!!):

*Send me an email at cprobert@sd35.bc.ca and tell me which one you are going to make and who (if anyone) you are working with*

Burj Al Arab

Marina Bay Sands

Falling Water House

If you have any questions, email me at cprobert@sd35.bc.ca or send me a chat message in Teams.

Good luck and have fun!!!

Next week, we will begin using Minecraft Education.  I will provide more details on this next week.  In the meantime, answer these questions below, by sending an email to me at: cprobert@sd35.bc.ca

1. Confirm that you have seen and read this post, and you are able to check this blog weekly.
2. Do you have a computer or iPad with an internet connection available?
3. Include your name so I know who you are (first name only)

Important for you to know per the district going forward: in a linear course such as this, the absolute maximum amount of learning a student should be expected to complete is 1 to 1.5 hours per week.  Please know that you will not be over loaded with work - we will manage this class work accordingly.
